UK’s First Listed Female Magento Developer!

    Magento Agency
We are pleased to announce that YOMA has achieved an industry first with the announcement that specialist developer Becky Jones has become the UK’s first female developer to become Magento accredited.
Passing the exam with flying colours makes Becky the first female certified Magento developer in the UK to be listed on the official Magento directory. This is an amazing achievement for the young developer who graduated from Liverpool University in 2012 and has been with the team at Yoma since April 2012.
Becky is the latest Yoma developer to attain this accreditation, giving Yoma a total of three Magento certified developers. With only 15 certified developers listed in the whole of the UK, this is a significant achievement for Yoma!
Magento is the industry’s most popular open source eCommerce platform with over 31% of the current market share, used worldwide by over 125,000+ merchants. Magento’s professional certification program provides a way for qualified, experienced Magento developers to demonstrate and validate their skills - and is a worldwide recognised certification.
As official Magento Silver Partners and early adopters of the platform, we have developed high performance Magento powered sites for clients, including Soap & Glory Cosmetics, Tessuti Menswear, RARE London, David M Robinson and the famous Cavern Club - and encourage our team to continually develop their Magento skills.

Becky said: “I've been working with Magento since April, mainly front-end theming and decided to take the exam as an opportunity to learn more about how Magento works. I spent around two months prior to the exam researching and understanding the complex details of Magento."
“I am extremely pleased to have passed, and to be the first female in the UK listed on the official Certified Magento Developer directory is a great achievement. Hopefully we'll see more women join the Magento community!

Alex Ormandy, Digital Operations Manager at Yoma said “This is a great achievement for Becky, her hard work and commitment to has been verified by passing the official Magento exams."
“The UK is the epicentre of online retail and needs more people with web development and digital marketing skills to keep us at the forefront for the expected growth in future decades ,and hopefully Becky's successes will encourage others female’s to consider a career in computer programming.”
